During conversations with some of our foster carers it's become clear how important it is for employers to be flexible and supportive to the needs of the family unit, especially with the often complex and demanding needs of the children in our care. We've heard examples where some employers provide additional flexible working arrangements and holiday allowances are agreed so the family can meet the needs of their child.
This got me thinking about how important a supportive employer is in helping provide the right family environment for Credo Carers, so that they can provide the highest quality of care. Because of this I believe it’s time we celebrate and recognise fostering friendly employers within in our communities.
Our new Disability Fostering Friendly Employer recognition will be open for anyone to make a recommendation about an employer - whether their own or their partner's. Organisations selected for the recognition will be presented with a certificate and etched glass plaque. With the recognition we will thank the employer for playing their part in supporting disability fostering. We will also create a new page on our website highlighting disability fostering friendly employers that have been recognised.
We are looking forward to hearing nominations and presenting our inaugural recognition award.
