Credo Care established the Beaumont-Grainger Award in 2006. This award recognises excellence in foster care for children with disabilities and/or complex medical needs.
The award is in memory and appreciation of two of our original foster carers, Carol Beaumont and Tony Grainger who, before their untimely deaths, contributed towards the development of our unique service.
The Beaumont-Grainger Award is awarded in three categories:
- Credo Care Foster Carer of the Year
- Credo Care Employee of the Year
- A Care Professional independent of the organisation who has shown the highest level of care and commitment to children placed with us
The winners of the 2007 award were Donna Goudie (Foster Carer); Jane Sedgwick (Autism Specialist) and Sarah Davies (Community Paediatric Nurse Team Leader, Kent Area Health Authority). They are pictured above with Actor, Sean Williamson and Credo Care’s Chairman, The Very Revd Damien Mead. The ceremony took place at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Ashford on 4th October 2007.
We were honoured to have the awards presented by Shaun Williamson who is a neighbour of Carol Beaumonts family. He was very complementary of our service and was pleased to give the award in rememberence of Carol Beaumont and Tony Grainger.
Donna Goudie was awarded to recognise the high level of commitment shown to a young man placed with her who has autism. He was extremely traumatised at the time of being placed, in addition to the many needs he experienced with his autism. He has gone on to settle very well with the family and remain with them on a long-term basis, he is enjoying school and has much more pride in himself.
Jane Sedgwick undertook a ground-breaking peice of developmental work to enable Credo Care to be the first Foster Care provider in the UK to be awarded the NAS Autism Accreditation. She worked intensely with the NAS to help create the Autism Accreditation Standards and see Credo Care through the week long NAS Review to the final award in July 2007.
Sarah Davies is a Community Paediatric Nurse Team Leader who has shown a tremendous level of training and support to one of our Foster Carers who is looking after a baby with considerable life limiting disabilities. Her commitment to the child and the carer has been at a very high and professional level.
We would like to thank all our staff, carers and other professionals we work with in their continuing high standard of work with the children who are placed with us.
2006 inaugural award were David Upjohn and Andrew Daniels (Foster Carers); Linda Kingsman (Training and Support Officer, Credo Care) and Belinda Lockett (Social Worker, Enfield Social Services).
